CABOOLTURE jobseeker Brock Stewart always harboured a burning desire to work in the hospitality industry – and as of yesterday, his dream is a reality.
“I always really lacked self-confidence and my former job provider kept telling me I wasn’t smart enough to do a course or complete the training I needed to get into the industry,” Brock said.
“I really, really wanted to work in hospitality but specifically in the kitchen as a kitchen hand.
“I didn’t want to do all that fancy stuff like cooking, I just wanted to work in the kitchen washing up and cleaning.”
Now, 12 weeks after signing with Sarina Russo Job Access at Caboolture, Brock started his first shift at 4pm at Caboolture RSL Club on August 22 – an achievement he thanks Employment Consultant Pam Gay for.
“Sarina Russo Job Access and working with Pam gave me all the help and support I needed, more support than anyone could ever need,” Brock said.
“Now I have also completed a Certificate III in Hospitality, gained employment at the Caboolture RSL and I am really happy about all of that.”
Pam said the 22-year-old family man was well on his way to a wonderful career.
“Brock was the perfect student right throughout his course and he is always so appreciative for anything we do for him,” Pam said.
“He was really lacking self-confidence after his experience with his previous job provider.
“He is such a lovely young man and I am very proud of him and what he has achieved.”
