You may be eligible for a $4,000 Additional Identified Skills Shortage (AISS) payment, over and above the standard Government financial incentives, when you take on a new apprentice in an identified skills shortage area
Eligible Employers receive:
- $2,000 payable 12 months from the commencement date of the apprenticeship, and
- $2,000 payable at the completion of the apprenticeship
Eligible Apprentices receive:
- $1,000 payable 12 months from the commencement date of the apprenticeship, and
- $1,000 payable at the completion of the apprenticeship
Your apprentice must be an additional new worker* undertaking a Certificate III or IV-level qualification leading to an occupation on the AISS Payment list.
10 AISS occupations:
- Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanics
- Bakers and Pastry Cooks
- Bricklayers and Stonemasons
- Carpenters and Joiners
- Vehicle Painters
- Wall and Floor Tilers
