A huge congratulations to Matthew Leigh for winning the Carpentry Apprentice of the Year Award at the 10th Annual Tec-NQ Industry Awards Gala where Sarina Russo Group was a proud sponsor.

Matthew is very thrilled to be recognised, 'I am incredibly humbled and honoured to win the Carpentry Apprentice of the Year Award and I cannot thank you enough for your interest and support in my recognition.

I would also like to thank the Sarina Russo Group for your very generous award prize, it is very much appreciated,' Matthew said.

Apprenticeships are an excellent way to gain practical, on-the-job training and experience while earning a wage. The benefits of apprenticeships are well-documented, and the demand for skilled workers is increasing across many industries. To recognize the hard work and dedication of apprentices, a number of awards programs have been established in recent years.

Apprenticeship awards are designed to recognize the contributions and achievements of apprentices in a particular industry or field. These awards celebrate the hard work, dedication, and skills of apprentices and help to raise the profile of apprenticeships as a career pathway. Awards may be given at a local, regional, or national level and can be sponsored by industry bodies, trade associations, government agencies, or training providers.

Tec-NQ Executive RTO Manager Jennifer Trybula said this year’s event celebrated 30 of North Queensland’s best and brightest apprentices, across 10 categories, all of whom have excelled in their dedication to their chosen trade and truly value the opportunity they’ve been afforded within industry.

“An ‘Apprentice of the Year’ was chosen for each of the ten categories and scholarships provided to further their nationally-accredited careers in the construction, electrical, automotive and engineering sectors,” Jennifer said.

“All of our 30 finalists are passionate about their chosen trades, showing genuine willingness to join the workforce and grow their skills, so our judges had their work cut out for them,” she added.

In summary, apprenticeship awards are an excellent way to celebrate the achievements of apprentices and promote the value of apprenticeships as a career pathway. By recognizing outstanding apprentices, awards programs can help to motivate apprentices, boost confidence, and improve the reputation of industries. If you're an apprentice or an employer of apprentices, consider entering an apprenticeship awards program to celebrate your achievements and promote the value of apprenticeships.
