GROWING up in Shalvey Rick Bonham always dreamt of being his own boss, and has now made that dream a reality.
Rick Bonham (pictured) completed the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme at Sarina Russo job agency in St Marys, a program which assists unemployed people to become their own boss.
After finishing the course earlier this year, Mr Bonham established Rick’s Extreme Clean in March. Travelling all over Western Sydney, Mr Bonham and his team clean anything from private homes to offices and businesses.
Mr Bonham said he was overwhelmed at how quickly the business had grown.
“It has just gone crazy; we are getting so much work it has been great,” he said.
Mr Bonham’s business has now grown so large he has employed his first staff member, 57-year-old Cathy Edwards. Mrs Edwards told The Standard she cherished the opportunity to work.
“I was out of work for almost two years before I got this job so I am really enjoying it,” she said. Mr Bonham said he was hoping to hire more employees soon as the business had grown dramatically.
“I am hoping to grow the business and hire some more people,” he said.
“I have been trialling people over the last few weeks and hope to find someone soon.”
